Check engine light

Check engine light
I have a 96 Maxima (base model) with 95K miles. The car has been well maintained and usually runs pretty smooth. This past friday night I filled up the car with the normally gas that I normally use at the usual gas station that I go to (Super plus - Mobil). Saturday morning I start the car and the CHECK ENGINE light comes on. It does not blink or flash. It just stays solid. The car still starts up with no problem ans it seems to run fine. From the reading that I have done so far the problem could be a number of things (bad gas, emission problems, e.t.c). Has anyone out there has any experience with this.
Thanx,
Louis in NY.

The same thing happened to me a while back. The light was on for a while, but the car started and was running fine so I eventually took it into the shop and they said the "nock sensor" (sp?) went bad, and they had to replace it. Since the car has 95k on it, it could be that a sensor went bad, but do get the ECU check.
