Am I missing something?

So I've been experiencing the squealing sound when ever the AC is turned on for the first few minutes, which can be solved by turning the belt tightener ccw. Except when I look under my hood, I don't see a bolt there to turn.

Is it supposed to look like that, or is there supposed to be a bolt that goes into that assembly?

well ... some things I noticed in your picture!

First off ... you have to let the tension off the pully (there is a bolt going into the center, just below your power wire). 14mm on both btw. Loosen the pully bolt, then you can slip your 14mm over the tensior arm (thing you were asking if a bolt went into - that is the tensioner bolt). Have fun ... a lot of times, they don't play nice.

Leads me to another question ... what is the power wire going to? Alarm horn ????

Also ... on a side note. It might be the tensior is bad, could be a wearing AC pully bearing. At least it was both with mine. That spin of the bad bearing is enough to make me bypass it - so ... no AC at the moment.

JtzMax, that wire looks like a ground wire.

anyways ya. its that bolt right in the middle of the picture. but loosen the tensioner pulley first like Jtzmax said. and also im pretty positive you turn it CW to tighten the belts.

I think that Clock-Wise pulls the tensioner pulley up which would loosen the belt..........I think Im right there.....haha

Also, I would reccommend cleaning up that leaking oil or oils all around the area. Just as much as a belt could be loose, it could also have oil on it.......looking at the pic it looks like the Power Steering Fluid Resevoir is leaking and maybe some water pump leakage too....

Try to clean the area up a bit all around there and see where the leak is so you can fix it.....it might be the cause of your noise...

Oh no.... I thought that was normal buildup over the years. I just bought the car last summer, didn't even notice it.

i really dont think that is normal. if anything i think its comming from your valve cover or your cps is leaking or your main seal is leaking. i dont know how else all that build up get there.

my bad i didnt see that someone else already posted about the oil. didnt even think about the ps

I got my car oil sprayed for the winter one time, and they did under the hood and all, and after a couple years all the dirt and crap sticks to it making it look like that. Thats the case for mine anyway. Takes a NICE amount of time to clean all that crap up. Having a closer look, you might be dealing with a leak...if you didnt get oil sprayed anyway.
