My hood wont stay up automatically

Is it that hard to think about replacing a hood strut ?? I should give it 1 star, but I raise it up to -10 stars. You could get the cheaper, just go to an auto salvage yard, and get like 2 for $3. or something like that. Or just grade a stick from the front yard, and use it like a hood stick thing, forgot what there called, they use it on other cars.

I use a tennis racquet. Only because I'm too cheap for new hood struts, and I honestly don't car whether or not my hood holds itself up.
OP, there have been lots of threads on this BTW. Search will protect from the flamage.

Hmm, sounds like a problem with the magneto constrabulator solenoid in the NAHAS (Nissan automated hood actuating system).
Get a multimeter and measure the resistance across the terminals of the solenoid. If it isn't getting 1200 mega ohms or more, you could be f***ed and need to buy a new one.
The NAHAS is a pain in the butt to work on because you need special tools and hoists from Nissan, but could be well worth it.
If you are getting more than 1200 mega ohms across the terminals, the NAHAS solenoid should be fine, and it is just the RFCM sensor in the hood actuation circuit.
Hope this helps! Good luck man.

Wow people, seriously, I just asked a question. I dont know much about this car, or much about car mechanics aswell. It was just a hand me down from my dad, so I'm trying to fix up little problems.
Sorry if I dont know what hood struts are.

Everyone's just busting your chops a little bit man, it's all in good fun.
As for the ebay struts - you may be better off spending a couple more dollars & buying them from Autozone, because they come with a lifetime warranty. The struts tend to fail pretty often, so it'd be nice to be able to take a quick trip to autozone & replace them for free as long as you have the car.

no hard feelings bro.....we all basically went thru this crap and gott HOTTER flamez.Do autozone.

It's all in good fun man, no offense intended. We all give each other **** on occasion and have some fun with things around here.
BTW, I had this problem on my old Ford, one trick was I just carried some vicegrips with me in the car, and on the strut that holds the hood up, even if its just on one side, just clamp the vicegrips on the lower part of the strut and the upper part of the strut rests on your vicegrips and it holds it up. Luckilly mine still work on my Maxima, but if they ever go I'll probably just use the vicegrip trick instead of worrying about buying new hood struts.

But ok Gman.......I'm so very sorry to be rude. Is this better? The problem with your hood is simply your hood struts. Just replace them ASAP and you'll be fine. You can buy them at your local Autozone. I hope this helps!
Moving on now Gman................
