What the hell, it disappeared for a while and (I know they come back eventually after a certain amount miles) but this was gone for a while. And way, I replaced the Knock sensor and you guys said to get the best perfromence is to reset the ECU. Well I tried that and the light came back. And it has been gone for at least 1000+ miles.
IS there a way I can completely reset the ECU and clear the codes? Or just clear codes? every time I search it just shows how to clear the codes but not really resetting the ECU and its Retarded timing maps do to a bad Knock sensor.

Make sure that the harness isn't the problem by replacing that as well. If your SES keeps coming on, you have another problem, as the knock sensor will not trip the SES light.
Turning the screw on the ECU resets it, or unplug the battery overnight. If you do not fix the egr problem, the code will not go away.
It's not uncommon for the CEL to turn off if you ignore it for a long time, but that doesn't mean that the problem is gone.
