help with greddy muffler sizes

hey im redoing my exhuast so i need some input. before i start i need to ask one question: i jacked up my car and saw it has 3 cats. is this normal!?
ok so i found an exhuast system i like. sounds BEAUTIFUL. the Greddy Ti-C exhuast. ( here's a link to what it sounds likes http://greddy.com/home/?id=222 ). since they dont make an entire system for the maxima, i am going to buy just the muffler and then go diff piping. first question is:
what size inlet do i need?? ( http://www.dezod.com/pd-greddy-ti-c-...al-muffler.cfm ) does a bigger inlet mean bigger muffler thereby increasing the deep tones of the muffler??
2nd: will different piping affect the sound alot?
3rd: what size piping would i use? i want to go catback

2.5" piping and inlet. T304 stainless. Mandrel Bent.

You do realize the muffler is not going to make your car sound like that.

An engine in a car is what makes sound. I tried the website and nothing plays but Im assuming its not a maxima sound clip.

since your posting in the 4th gen forum i guess you have a 3 liter unless you have a 3.5 swap. you would need a 3.5 liter engine and equal length headers with 2.5 cat back to that muffler to even come close to that sound clip. good luck!

Ok, I understand your question. It wont sound like that. It may sound close, but that is a Z, not a max. Even with a 3.5 swap and equal length long runner headers, you still wont sound just like that.

black_maxed, its a Z with the catback.

Closer to 2 1/4, I believe.

Install headers to do what in relation to 2.5" exhaust?

You can keep your stock manifolds for any piping size that you wish...

i think you should just get your Greddy muffler and bring it to an exhaust shop and have them put the muffler on and do a 2.5" cat back without the resonator.

Make sure its mandrel bent. Most shops are crush bent unless they advertise mandrel bending.

The resonator is separate from the muffler.

Thats not true either. It increases the efficiency of the motor and maintained it wont decrease the life.

Will the turbocharger affect engine wear and maintenance?
Certainly the turbo will affect engine wear. Do you really expect to add power and not increase wear? If you drive vigorously but with some respect for the equipment, you can expect about 90% of normal engine life.

As for the transmission and drivetrain being affected....
Very unlikely. Consider that the drivetrain endures more torque in first gear from the stock engine than almost any turbo can produce in second gear. Occasionally a clutch comes along that won't do the extra duty. Most clutch problems are going to crop up when shifting habits are less than acceptable.

Well u know what i mean. it wont decrease it 50% just because of the turbo. I as well as you know that it will decrease the life but not by that much
