idle like a diesel??

ok guys. i'm having a few issues here. yesterday a friend and i installed a stage 3 clutch. Its XTD brand...i know its not the best or its risky but i don't have much money and needed a stronger clutch than my stage 1 for the nitrous i'm spraying. drove to the shop...no weird noises everything normal. put on the new flywheel, clutch, throw out bearing... good to go. everything lined up fine and went nice just like my stage 1 clutch install. started fine everything seemed normal( as in noises) except chattered a little and grabs like crazy....but after driving back to my house which is about 30 miles away. i let it idle and i hear this horrific noise. when its idling in nuetral with clutch pedal out it seriously sounds like a diesel engine idling. its awful...now if i just rev it up to about a little over 1000 rpm it goes away....when its idling if i just barely push the clutch pedal to where the throw out bearing touches the pressure plate the noise goes away...and the lower the rpm the worse it is....i'm guessing throw out bearing but i'm a little stumped....just wanted to get yalls opinions...other than the XTD clutch part....so any opinions?

Bring it back to the shop and demand they fix it but be nice about it. If it turns out they can somehow prove that it was caused by your CSP's (customer supplied parts) Expect to pay close to the same amount of labor and don't biotch one bit, in fact you should let them know ahead of time that you expect that, unless it is because of an obvious (ie longer or shorter) difference in the release bearings. Since it's standard practice to compare them, and I've gotten the wrong ones before.

I had the same issues from my XTD clutch that I bought off eBay. I'd say it is the clutch and not the install.

Yes there is. FWIW, The Exedy stage II clutch I'm using is holding close to 400hp just fine.

Thanks bro!

Be sure to check out Justin's price in the group deal forum for the Exedy clutch before you make the purchase from anyone else.

ok guys, i just wanted to update what happened with the whole XTD clutch issue....

ended up the clutch itself was fine. the problem was, that the xtd flywheel and "bolt plate" were thinner than the stock parts. so when i went to bolt up the flywheel last time the bolts bottomed out and didn't fasten the flywheel down. so the diesel noise was the flywheel itself raddling around. i went ahead and put in the ACT clutch just for name brand purposes and driveablity. its a great clutch! i just wanted to clear this up because i didn't want to bash XTD clutch for this issue. the clutch grabbed hard but it wasn't very streetable. anyways. thats the story!
