Weird relay problem :(

So im driving home from work and i start to hear a clicking sound from under my steering column. It sounds like the turn signal is on but its not. Turn signals work and all. So i just got home i took a peak under there and its the relay right under the steering column towards the right side its kinda visable when you look down there. Even when the car is off i still hear the noise. So i was wondering what the problem could be. Maybe a bad hazzard switch, or headlight stalk???

Could be one of the two circuit breakers, check that you power seats, windows, doorlocks and sunroof work and are not stuck. Just moving them may be enough to fix the problem. Otherwise you need to find what exactly is making the noise.

I agree ... check anything with power that moves. It sounds like it's maybe a bad coil on the relay and an easy fix might be to just replace the relay. Pull it out ... it might be stiff, but it will come out of the housing / pigyback if you pull on it. Pull the relay out, put it back in ... see if it fixes it. If not ... RadioCrap (oopsss, I mean Shack) is about the only place I know anymore to get a relay, they should have a replacement for cheaper than Nissan.

Ignition, blower motor and accessory relays are also in that area. If you are not noticing any problems with these features than it may still be one of the circuit breakers. The circuit breakers look similar to relays and they reset themselves after an overload condition so the sound you hear may be them resetting themselves.

If one of your window or a power seat motors got stuck momentarily and drew too much current something like that can happen, you should be OK.
