96 Bose problems

Here is the deal. before everyone starts sending me to the stickies I will tell you that I read and re-read them many times. that's why I haven't started a thread so far. The stickies are very good and I have found most of the things I've looked for.

Now to the problem. My CD doesn't work. I have a 96 GLE with the BOSE system. I found out that it is a common issue with that kind of HU so I read about it and tried to fix it. I took it all apart and re soldered all the resistors. I had the display problem as well and now that's fixed but the CD still gives me the CD Err. Where else can I look for info and fixes? I kinda like the BOSE HU and want to keep it.

Thanks in advance to all that will help!!!

1. are you using authentic cd's...ie, not burned copies from your pc?
2. check the power supply wire to the cd if the radio still works.

I am getting CD err on occassion, good to know soldering the resistors may not help. I'll try that last. I'm thinking the laser reading head may be dirty or not adjusted properly. I'm considering getting a cleaner kit for the laser otherwise it may need adjusting, I'm not sure how to do that. It may be that after all these years in a harsh envoirment the player has to be replaced.

Thank you for your opinions but I don't think any of this will help me. I don't see a reason for the CD not to read burned disks.
I did think about cleaning the laser lens but still am not sure if that will help me much. I guess I'll go and play again with it today.

If repairing all of the resistors did not work, it's likely junk. Had the same problem with my '95 HU, it was frustrating to say the least. Buy one from a 1999 either in the classifieds or on Ebay. It worked great when I had the bose system, looks sleek too. People sell them around here for about $70. Ebay will most likely cost more.
