Car randomly dying at idle sometimes catches it self but still pudders? MAF?

No codes? wtf? I am trying to figure out what is the cause. Basically I will be driving and feeling horrid throttle reponse as if the car is dying but getting restarted backup because I am still in gear but once I shift or put it in neutral she will plummet but only sometimes. She died on my 4 times so far in the past week. It will go from 600-700 idle and then like try and try to keep it there, go up to 1.3k and then down to 200k and die. I had to start my car going 40 a few times. lol

Anyway, I am thinking it is either the maf, or IACV related. but the thing is, I just cleaned the IACV like in march. So I don't think it is that. The Maf could be it because I kinda broke the pins on it and jerry-rigged it to put it together and its been working fine for 6months. SO I unplugged it while running to test to see how the car reacts and of course the car dies instantly and throws a code about that. Yet, If it was the MAF I SHOULD be getting a code and I am not or any codes. Also if it was a bad MAF the car would die all the time and not run over 3k iirc, but it only starts running crappy or dying like maybe a few times a day.

O and car has no issues on the highway other then crappier pull.

Thoughts? Thanks. I really need to get this fixed Asap. I think its sucking my gas more.

i jerry-rigged my MAF one time and it worked for a few weeks and then car started to die sometimes. a really bad MAF would cause the car not to go over 2500RPM. i would say go to a local junk yard and get a MAF and see what happens, you can always return it if its not it.

ok, around 4pm today I changed the Fuel filter to a 96 300ZX TT and it seemed to do a little better with crappier throttle response. (i'd figure there is a small brake-in period.) After that it died once on going down a hill... odd? but was running fine after that and I went up to 6k a few times to get everything going all nice.

around 800pm. I was going up a hill into my complex and she started to sputter and die. And then it died and I couldn't even start it without hitting the gas.

So I think it may be an clogged injector or some issue relating the fuel because I would throw some code if it was a sensor right?

Change the MAF. It may be giving faulty readings
