air bag code help?
air bag code help?
I've got the code coming up 2 long flashes, then 2 short flashes (or vice versa) and repeat until I take it out of diagnostic mode.
according to the FSM it comes up as drivers side air bag module. Are they referring to the control module itself? the airbag? something else I'm not thinking of?
I called the dealer, and they checked with one of the techs and he said the only way is to throw parts at it , which to me is a huge crap shoot and waste of money I don't have (they knew they will never see the car as I called from a shop).
has anyone else had the same code and what did you do to fix it?
I tried searching, but came up with no useful information
For the record the car is a 98 I30t

Are airbags not covered under a lifetime safety equipment warranty? I was under the assumption that airbags and seatbelts were.
The FSM says that one long, two short is the driver's side front airbag, but two long and two short is the side airbag on the driver's side (which would be in the seat).
Check the connector underneath the seat, that's the most likely cause (kicked loose or such).
In any case, all of the individual airbags are referred to as modules (as they contain a bunch of parts as an assembly). The FSM refers to just the left side airbag module by itself, not the diagnosis unit (otherwise known as the airbag control unit, among other things).

I have side air bags???
****.
AFAIK air bags were never under lifetime warranty, and the seat belts only were for the motorized years.
If anyone has the original warranty book, I'd love to know what it says. though my infiniti dealer would want to shoot me since it wasn't that long ago I took in my brother's 92 G20 for warranty work

guess I'll unbolt the seat and check all of the wiring and hope that it's a wiring issue. if not I'm going to have to buy an airbag and figure out how to install it.
I can't swap the whole seat as I have what appears to be a rare option of perforated leather seats rather than solid leather.
