Help please! Where is the fuel filter on 4th gen?

Where the heck is the fuel filter on a '99 Maxima? I desperately need to change it (car is starving out and running like a Buick) and can't find a site on the net or anything in the owner's manual that tells me where to look for it. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Now ... if only other people would follow in your footsteps and read the stickies... *sigh* ... only in a perfect world....

Cause obviously, 95rubygxe didn't read that thread or else he would know that that link was already posted in the "Maxima Maintenance" thread.

Hey, that's cool, and no one got to yell "do a search." The fuel filter is a b[tch. My back was killing me from being hunched over the engine so long. Hope you got it all done and the car is running good now.

Top of the page - "4th Gen Maxima Maintenance Items" - with the word "Important" in front of it, along with several other "Important" threads.

My apologies then. I was just pointing out that the link you gave him was already posted in the Maxima Maintenance thread.

But as long as you've read the stickies, hey... it's all good.

Re: Re: I'm a MORON!

You think you got it bad, my car has ABS, and those ABS lines are like criss crossed right in front of the feul filter. Holy cow was it hard for me!

clee130,
You are being a little over-zealous in your stickies pimpin'. Why go through two links when you can go to the source by clicking on one? It wouldn't matter if 95rubygxe read the stickies or not...he was just providing an answer to the thread.

I think I'm being a little under-zealous in my stickies pimpin'. Why not read the stickies and have your question answered without ever posting up the question? I agree... why go through two links when you can go to the source by clicking on one. That's easily done by reading the stickies.

He was just providing an answer, fine. But the answer was already posted up before.

I hear you bro. So many threads today are easily answered in the stickies...

However, I suggest you open your can of whoop *** on the original thread's author instead of a responder trying to help a brotha out... that's all I'm saying.

I didn't have to because the original poster already kicked himself in the @$$ and called himself a moron by not seeing the sticky. And I didn't "open a can of whoop @$$" on the responder, I only pointed out that the link was already given.

Also, you didn't see my smiley and my apology?

Back to the original subject.... I was trying to change my fuel filter a while ago and I still haven't been able to get the old one out (I tried like 3 times)... I cranked the engine with the fuel pump disconnected many times, but the hose that goes onto the top of the fuel filter seems like its glued on there, i cant move it at all! I was swearing at it like no tomorrow, and the new fuel filter is still sitting in my garage... any more tips on how to get those damn hoses off? Thanks...

Get a flat head screw driver between the hose and the filter and gently twist it to start the hose off - you can switch to a bigger screwdriver to move it even more. Once you get it going you may be able to pull it by hand - but I know some people have used pliers to pull on the line. Whatever you do - do it gently. You can also pull the filter out of the holder for better access and remove or push out of the way any wiring that is in your way. It's a pain in the *** but it can be done. Just don't force anything. Good luck

Try taking out the fuel filter WITH the hoses. Then attach those hoses to the new filter and re-install. That's what I did. It took me like an hour and a half because of the tight space and ABS!

Use these instructions here fromSteve Cutchen's MaxFAQ;
