Tires for my new rims...........

Ok, I know the rims that I am getting are 17x7 (5th gen 6 spoke SE's). I want to know what tires I should get for them. I have been looking at the Bridgstone Potenza RE950, the RE730, or the S03 Pole Posistions.

The RE 950 has VERY good ratings at Tirerack.com, but are only 235x45xR17 (see question below) Are they really as good as whats listed there? I want a very good performance tire for summer driving, in wet and dry, but I need something that will be good in the winter too. It does snow here in Colorado alot! So, if there is better then these, let me know. I want all opinions on this one. I dont mind spending more for a better tire either.

My question is, can you use Max Performance tires in the snow well? Anyone tried that?

And, I am looking for a tire that has good handling, smooth ride, kinda quite (stereo is way up usually so that doesnt matter too much) and has a good tread wear.

Also, what size should I put on those rims? I was thinking 235x40xR17's, or 245x40xR17's, and can I get 235x45x17's or 245x45x17's? Would that be good? Please let me know what you guys all think! Thanks!

Go read the reviews on Dunlops Sport A2. Tire Rack has them, my buddy is running them on his 2000 Max. Nice freakin tire!!

Is this just a better D60 A2? Also, if it's user feedback, it is too early to really judge the tire--you are just getting initial feedback. My D60 A2 have been decent tires. However, after 15,000 miles or so, their wet performance diminishes badly and the noise starts to get pretty damn loud. Still, the Dunlop Sport A2 is pretty cheap. I just wish Dunlop's SP5000 came in 225/45R17...
I just need something for spring/summer/fall, ie. wet/dry only.

hm....

According to the tire calculator I should get 245/45/17's, or 235/45/17's. I like that But, what tire brand you think? The Bridgestone look good. Thanks for the input guys......keep it coming!

Tire Calculator aside, the 245 and 235mm widths are both NOT recommended by ANY tire manufacturer for 7" wide rims. As has been stated before, you can get them to fit but they will not be warranteed and you are on your own in terms of a safety call. I'm also not sure the added bulge will be too good in terms of cornering. Unfortunately, 235/45R17 is a very popular size and shares both variety and cost advantage (most of the time) over 215 or 225 sizes in the 17". In that size, RE950 and Sp5000 look good to me--performance and value-wise.
