"clunk" noise when shifting into first. cause?
I never had this issue before and it only begun after I rebuilt my tranny (5 speed). I did NOT replace the synchros, only the bearings. When I shift into first, say, after shifting out of reverse (at a complete stop) I can feel and hear a sort of thud as it goes into first gear. Its almost as if the shifter rods are hitting against something but I have looked and dont see any reason for it to be making that noise. If I shift into first *clunk*, then into neutral, and back into first it will go in smoothly with no noises or anything. I can not imagine all of this is simply from the synchro's not being perfectly aligned. Does anyone else have any experience with this?
I replaced the shifter bushing which used to be polyurethane with a stock rubber one after the swap as well.
I dont think its anything damaging but it bothers me because it never used to do it before..I dont like new noises.
thanks

it has resistance as I'm putting it into first, yes. Its not after i get it into first though, its like as I am putting it into first...there is the "bump". I assumed it to be the synchro out of alignment as I said before but the noise is what I cant explain.

Mind you, this is based on my knowledge (and screwups) of the RS6F51H, I'm assuming the RS5F05A has a similar if not near identical setup.

there's a chance, yes. lol. That would suck if it were the cause. If thats the case I will just be dealing with it because I'm tired of messing with the thing. My next tranny will be lsd.
