hardware kits will usually fit more than one car, but with some different pieces. use the ones for your application & toss the extras. since this kit is oe double check with the dealer for the other apps to see if the extras are worth saving...(in case they fit "my other car is a...").

thanks folks, do you use anti-squeal glue and then attach it to the shim?

I don't know for sure but when I installed my shims I did not use any anti-squeal at all and they worked just fine. I don't think that you need it.

i am sorry i mean if you apply anti-squeal on outer shiny shim and then attach it to the black shim? i guess i maybe the first person to receive this extra piece of hardware or maybe i have received the wrong hardware. the shims seem to fit the pads. i just want to confirm before i get started.

I would put anti squeel on the back of the pad, and on the back of the shim.

No goo between the shims. Check your FSM.

The friction between the layers is what makes them work.

thanks folks, i found out that the shiny plate metal is called shim cover.

last question, what size c-clamp do you use for the front brakes. 4" or 6"?

Either one will probably work, I'd go with the 6" just to make sure does not end up being too small.

I would definitely put anti-squeal between the shims and the brake pads. I always buy Raybestos pads (I uses ceramic in fronts and semi-metalics in back, last 2-3 years) but some of the cheaper crap pads out there (autozone, Pepboys - typically made in china garbage) have such poor quality fitting on shims they rattle once installed. I also don't use the anti squeal these clowns sell. The stuff doesn't have a good hi-temp resistance and once turned to dust on my Maxima. My friend recommended Red RTV (find it in the gasket section) and the stuff works great.

i just finished working on the front brakes today. on one side, i forgot to untwist the cap on the brake fluid reservoir while i was pushing the piston back. am i in trouble?

Chitownson, how much longer does the Red RTV last compare to the regular anti-squeal glue?
