Cruise control going weird

Hadn't taken the car for a long trip for a while, until yesterday. I got up to 60 and tried cruise. It didn't want to engage but eventually it did. Later I tried to 'resume' and it wouldn't. I kept my finger on the button and the strangest thing happened - the speed began to increase as if I was putting my foot on the accelerator . . . it got up to 75, I took my finger off and it dropped back again. Cruise is now very hit-or-miss. I have to try several times to get it to work. Any ideas?

Check the switch on the brake pedal.

also if your o/d light blinks when you turn the key it wont work. Also might be the vacuum canister.

The res/accel button will accelerate the car if you hold it down (resume and acceleration). That much is normal. It will also raise your cruise control speed 1MPH at a time if you tap the button.

I love that feature and use that all the time. I believe the opposite is true if you want to slow down my 1 MPH as well.

Yup, the Coast/Set button, when tapped, will decrease your CC speed setting by 1MPH.

I love this feature too.
