heres the situation. i have a 97 gle. my dad bought it "practically" brand new in 1998. but it didnt come with a nissan key fob, only after market. since then my dad somehow fried the aftermarket alarm. he says he removed it and got it connected back like it was originally.

does anyone know if my car has the factory alarm installed?
im guessing yes because i did the procedure to program a key fob and when i inserted the key multiple times the lights flashed on que. doesnt that mean that the bcm thing has keyless in it?

but i need to make sure. before i go and buy one(i have enough useless junk lying around).

also my car does have the original security light on and functioning properly. if that helps or has anything to do with keyless entry.

last but not least. is keyless entry the same as factory alarm? because i noticed that if i open my door without the key no horn sounds but i am not able to turn on my car (ask me how i know!).

 

first off what are you planning on buying?

and my alarm was acting like that (no horn but car wouldn't start) and i found it was one of the fuses under the hood that needed replacing, hopfully thats the problem.

 

oh yea srry. i was talking about buying a key fob.

maybe its a fuse. i dont want an aftermarket alarm anymore, just factory
