Sorry to hear about that. I know what you are saying!! Just let them pass you. I did the exact same thing last nite and I ended up getting rear ended!! My damaged though isn't anyway as bad as yours.
I put my blinker on to show them that i was changing lanes and when they saw the blinker go on, the lady on behind me quickly changed lanes trying to cut me off so i down shift and rip the max and quickly got in front and changed lanes. Then teh car in front of me hit the brakes forcing me to do the same and before I could do anything, I hear a huge boom and yep she had hit me in the back forcing me to go into a spin right on the highway and I am lucky that i didn't get T-boned by other cars on teh highway. From now on i will just wait till its clear I really don't care. Better safe than sorry. Sorry to hear about your loss. Too bad. Glad you are OK.

o wow thank GOD you walked away from such an accident with your life. although reacting the way you did was not the smartest thing to do... it was a very understandable reaction. i really hate it when people cut me off as well. im sure many of our fellow orgers can agree to that. i just hope that we all learn from this incident and try to not let get riled up form someone cutting us off. on another note, i have to agree with the strength and durability of the 4th gen. i for one can totally attest to the 4th gen's tank like abilities... my former girl friend drove my car thru a brick wall and my car has still been running pretty strong for a good year and half. yay for 4th gens! =)

So had my final court appearance today. I definitely had a lawyer. Anyone that gets a criminal infraction, I highly recommend you go with a lawyer instead of a public defender. Plus I have a legal benefit thru work. I pay $9 a month, but I get essentially any legal help I need 100% covered. Best thing I signed up for ever.

Anyway, the evidence is well against me, so it was pointless to take this to trial. So I get:

10 days jail, community service, or electronic home monitoring
$500 fine
2 years probation
and DOL will suspend my license for 30 days.

I'm not where near the maximum sentence which is 1 year jail, $5000 fine. However this really still hurts. Again guys, I can't stress how much it's not worth it to have a big *** ego in a fast car.

I'm still curious what the other driver got, but in her case, she didn't live in this state...so I'm guess whatever did happen, it's probably hurting her more.

i agree its kudos to the teens that have rich parents that buy them cars like that. i know its amazing for a teen like me to be saying that but hell half the kids im in school with either have parents that can afford cars that are 10k or more hell the other day someone pulled up in a lamborgini mercialago. trust me the kids here may have fast cars but when it comes to driving and able to never have a wreck they fail epically thats when i laugh and cry cause one its hilarious to know my max and me have missed everything thrown our way and ive come out with nothing but a rush hahah also seeing that kills me cause its such a waste of a good car that could be driven by a better person instead of an idiot. anyway its good to know you made it out sorry for the loss its the same year as mine and i love mine to death. im glad the ***** got cited she should be getting more than just a slap on the wrist like that she should be getting you a whole new car

Hey man, I know how you feel when you see some douchebag coming up on you to cut you off. Instead of trying to be arrogant about the situation, you decided that you were going to share your story and hopefully reduce the chances of this happening to some1 else. This will serve as a wakeup call to you and hopefully all of us to use more caution out there on the road. Thanks for sharing and be fortunate that the situation was not worse than this.

Well it's not so much about how I reacted, but the result of what happened. I essentially lost control of my car, ended up on a sidewalk and almost knocking down a telephone pole. I don't know how it is where you live, but that a pretty big deal here. As for insurance rates, who knows. I'll see what happens.

yeah, i followed the thread in the beginning but i lost track of it along the way so i hadn't know you had any more trouble other than the accident itself, but in Florida you get points and a slap on the wrist at most, how many points did you get and how many before they take your licnace away where you live?

We don't have a points system as far as I'm aware here. At least not yet.

Considering my best friend just died YESTERDAY from hitting a telephone pole I consider you very lucky. Sorry about the car man, but I hope this is a big lesson to everyone.

You need to slow down man. Your insurance rates are probably thru the roof now. So far mine are okay, I pay full coverage on my maxima now and it's about $500 every 6 months, but with this reckless, that'll make it go up.
