drivabilty problem

hey everyone, i have been having this problem on and off since April/08 but now it seems to be stuck with me. The problem is that randomly my brake pedal and gas pedal together becomes hard to press wat i mean by that is the pedals dont press down like they should. there is resisitance in them. when i press on the gas i have to apply more pressure to the pedal to keep it where it is when i press my brake pedal it odesnt go down easyly either. im feeling towards my brake booster maybe cuz its leaking air and shows rust spots on it. or maybe its not getting enough air, no check engine light no ghost codes and maybe this is y my gas mileage sucks(u must have read the post 230 miles to a TANK FULL) but any input is much appreciated

The gas pedal is a cable control going directly to the throttle body.

The brake pedal is a rod that goes into the brake booster, which in turn helps you apply pressure to the brake master cylinder.

The two are completely independant of each other.

Maybe the floor mat is shoved under the pedals.

Pump your brake pedal with the engine off. If it gets stiff after a few pumps and stays that way, then your brake booster is probably not leaking enough to cause this problem.

+1 to checking the floor mats.
