Replacing bulbs in the dash?
I bought some Polarg 194 white bulbs and plan to replace the bulbs in the gauge cluster. After doing some searching on the forums and reading some write-ups on it, I still haven't figure out if I should remove the "blue" bulb covers (which made the light green) after replacing the bulbs. Does it make a difference? If I remove the bulb covers, would it make the light too bright/distracting while driving? Thanks for any input!

Re: Replacing bulbs in the dash?
i don't think a bright guage would distract me, i'm either looking at the road or the guage, nothing really in between, besides, would you rather try to figure out what your guage is saying for that little while longer, or have a nice bright one show up clearly and give you instant info? i have a 99 and it bugs the hell out of me that my bulbs aren't the 194 size, so i'm pretty much stuck with what i have. come dusk, i really wish my guages were brighter, otherwise they just get washed out.

the blue condom is meant to alter the yellowish appearance of the stock bulb, and results in a whiter light, than without the condom. The new bulbs burn and produce a truer white (as opposed to the stock bulbs) so the blue condom really isn't needed. Some people leave them on when they uses plasma blues or the equivelant to get a bluer light. I don't think the brighter bulbs would distract you. Put them in at night and determine for yourself whether or not you want the condoms on.
