License Plate LED Lights
Well my license plate bracket is completely rusted out and I ordered a new one from nissan but I would like to get some LED lights in there.
What has to be done to do this ? I have a brand new bracket but I never really worked with LED's at all.
Each bulb has a neg and a pos to it.
If someone can help me out with some step by step things I have to do.
Thanks guys

The best and easiest way, in my opinion, is to buy some perforated board at Radio Shack and make a 6 LED array that will fit there, and solder the board onto the bulb connections so the stock harness still works.
The easiest way to wire the LEDS is in series/parallel, which means 2 groups of 3 LEDs, and each group has its own resistor. For a bright white LED, which is 3.3V and designed to run around 20ma, you will need two 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistors.
Cut the board to fit, and mount the LEDs how you would like them. For one group of LEDs, solder the negative leg of the first to the positive of the second, and then the negative leg of the second to the positive leg of the third. Solder your resistor to the negative leg of the third LED. Do the same for the other group of three. Then solder the other ends of the resistors together to a wire, and that wire will be soldered to the negative stock bulb connection. Solder the two positive LED leads that are left together with a wire, and connect that to the positive bulb connection. Easy!
Keep in mind that the leads on the LEDs are not designed to be bent below the little square tab. Also, cover all of your wiring in silicon to keep it waterproof. Do this only AFTER you've tested it, though!

The screws of my dome shaped covers are all rusted. Tried so many different things but can't get it off. The license plate lights are the only lights on my car that are still not LEDs. What is the part number of the NISSAN bracket?

Get these. Armor_dan did them in his 5th gen. There is a thread about it. https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...te-lights.html
I got these as well and they are really bright. You have to buy 2 of them.

Both my rear bulbs burned out and the screws disintegrated when I tried to take the covers off. I saw on a previous thread here a website www.oznium.com. Checked it out and found these. Picked up two of the 4" strips, ripped out the old bracket entirely and did a quick solder to connect the two new strips. They came with double sided tape and I was able to secure them just inside the edge of my bumper. Took me about 30 mins total and this was the first time I had ever soldered anything. They look much brighter in the pics than in real life.

i dont know about where you guys are from but here in jersey if ur lisence plate is not illuminated u are most definately getting pulled over and that just gives cops another reason to pull u over and give you other tickets like tints cracked windshield or even if you have something hanging from your mirror for obstruction of view... i know its happened to me i got off with a warning my friend rounded up 3 tickets and one for the passenger for no seatbelt, my suggestion is illuminate your lisence plate whether its leds which look nice or the stock yellowish bulbs
