being able to use that factory bolt is key. the shifter will never be right without it. B&M is the way to go. i got mine used and it was missing a snap ring, idk how the guy was driving like this. i put the ring on so the shifter didnt fall through the bearing and all is good. i think im missing some spacers where the bottom of the rod connects to the linkage. any one have a pic of all the hardware for the B&M?????

there should be 4 plastic type spacers on the bottom of the b&m where the stock bolt goes through. nut|linkage|2 spacers|shifter|2 spacers|linkage|bolt head.
Something like that. I don't really feel like crawling under the car for a picture. sorry.

And I didn't have to enlarge/modify anything for the b&m to fit. It installed just fine. didn't have to remove the cat either. Just pushed it out of the way after removing the rubber hangers.

ill just stick to my stock shifter, its straight and true. when i had my E30 bmw, i bought an ebay STS, and it was the worst. while the car was in gear, it felt like it was in neutral flopping around, cant say how many times i missed 3rd and went to 5th

Might be some stupid questions butttt, does the B&M come with a boot for the shift or can the stock work just fine? Seems like it would be too big. Also can you remove and replace the **** on the B&M?

doesnt come with the boot, you can use the stock or get a new one that is shorter from redlinegoods.com. The **** is removable using the same threading pattern as the maxima.

B&M here in a I30. no modification to install, just use the washers you get. I really like it.
I just want a new 5sp busing - it will make your shifting so much better.
I changed mine during the Y-pipe change.

If the Cat has never been out of the car, it could take some time to get the bolts out. If the exhaust has been out of the car, you could have it done in less than an hour if you are mechanically inclined.
