My Custom Glove-Box Install

Hi. I am posting this because I got 30 - 40 e-mails last night and this morning about my glove box nitrous install. I started answering a few e-mails personally, but I didn't realize how many showed up. I am sorry if you don't care about the setup, skip this post, but I don't have time to answer everyones questions individually. Feel free to e-mail or post other questions you might have. Here is the answers to common questions.

PLEASE KEEP THIS IN THE 4TH GEN FORUM, I AM NOT SURE WHAT PARTS ARE COMPATABLE WITH OTHER YEARS!

1. Where did you come up with the idea?

I wanted a sleeper setup, nobody knows I have it, unless they are in the car. I knew I needed to mount a few switches and gauges, it seemed like the only place it would fit.

2. Who did it for you, how much was it?

A local, NJ, shop did it for me. If you want their info, e-mail me. I paid $50 for the custom install. Will you get this price? NO. Why? I have spent over $20,000 in the past 3 years at the shop. They have done work to 25 of my family's vehicles and I sent countless people to them everyday. It will most likely be in the range of $150 - $200 for the box.

3. Does it look as good in person as it does in the picture?

Yes, it looks amazing! They did a perfect job. No cuts, chips, scratches, anything!

4. What gauges are those, were they expensive?

They are Autometer Carbon Fiber Nitrous Pressure and Fuel Pressure. They were $1XX each...I think $125 but I am not sure exactly how much.

5. How much was the entire setup?

I got the nitrous, gauges, purge valve, automatic bottle heater, bottle opener, and all installed for $1500. It took them 1 day.

6. Where do you keep your documents, insurance, registration.

I keep my documents (insurance) behind the passanger seat. In my car, GLE interior, behind the passanger, in front of the rear passanger, is a small leather pocket. I don't leave my registration in the car because if someone steals your car you can't prove you didn't give it to them. Any of you driving with registration in the car is nuts. Put it in your wallet!

7. How do you reach your switches?

I can reach them by barely leaning over. I bought an MSD window switch so I can drive around all the time with the nitrous on.

That is a really, really sweet set-up. Congrats on it! I see most people have dry systems on maximas on account of the long intake runners, how did your wet system fare?

I have had 0 problems with it. I ran a 150 shot, ran into fuel pump problems, so I dropped it back to 75, it runs perfect. I have gone through 4 bottles in 3 weeks.

That is a sweet install.

No permit yet, the phone # is always busy. I will try when I have more time. Yes, thanks for your help. I sent the switch out to MSD to get modded. As for everyone's questions about the buttons, here goes:

1. Activation Switch
2. Bottle Heater (Automatic, always at 1000)
3. Purge Valve
4. Automatic bottle opener (Left open, Right Close) (Takes about 2 seconds to open or close)

Thanks for the compliments everybody!

Sx7r NX sells a jet kit. It has like 50 jets ranging from 50 to 250 shot. I am not sure what the #'s were, but it was setup for 150 shot. As soon as I upgrade the fuel pump I will run the 150 shot. Click on the link to see the product. http://www.nitrousexpress.com/new_products.htm

clee130 For a moderator you should read the previous posts. This is #6 on the original post. Synki Yes I figured out the bottle opener. It was much easier with the nitrous pressure gauge hooked up. Thanks again for all your help.
