Tinting taillights on 97 kwestion
I used niteshades and did not have to use a clear coat. But others have. I didn't clear coat because I wanted to be able to take it off if I want. Clear coat will make it more permanent.
It is shiny, but not clear coat shiny.

i tinted my tail lights also using nite shades and i put on a clearcoat on it too even if u use clear u will still be able to take is off just makes it a lil harder if u would want to go back to original but i like how it looks with clearcoat
I would say put clear coat on it, it looks better, but if you want to remove the tint or you get in trouble and have to remove the tint, then you might want to go without clear coat.
i would hope it was spelled that way intentionally.
and as dave said, i dont think clear coats is necessary for a somewhat shiny look. and yes, goof off is AWESOME! when you tint make sure you spray it on evenly, or else it WILL show at night, especially reverse lights.

Has anyone ever been forced to remove tint from their taillights?
