Best is to take your VIN and search on Nissan site or research here on the org. There's lots of other sites with info as well. Put your googles on.

gxe is the most basic version of maxima, no options as stated above rather a plain max with only cloth and no moonroof. i dont think our gen had any letters on the trunk either.

GLE has: leather, sunroof, BOSE, automatic climate control, leather steering wheel etc.
SE has: fog lights, rear wing spoiler, leather steering wheel. It may, or may not have BOSE and leather seats too.
GXE has: power windows, locks, cloth seats.

Also GLE does NOT come with a 5sp. so if you have a 5sp and no leather steering wheel, wing, fog lights, you have a GXE

Look at the title.

Is it possible to have more than 1 model? Because on the title mine says "GXE/GLE".

No. It's not.

GLE's are automatic only, have leather, autoclimate control, bose sound, power seats, etc.

GXE are the base models, can be had in either 5sp or automatic. Can't have any of the above the GLE has.

SE is a bit different, it starts out kinda inbetween a GXE and GLE. Firmer suspension, white faced gauges, auto or manual, comes with sunroof and homelink, body colored grill and door handles, spoiler, etc. SE's can be equipped with everything the GLE can have.

That's basically it in a nutshell.

Ok. Another question.

Since my title says "GXE/GLE" and I have everything mentioned in GLE, do I have an SE then since its 5spd? Also I looked up the color of my car and its sapphire blue if that helps. I also have a sunroof and white faced gauges, homelink, spoiler etc.

Oh btw, its a 97.

Yup, join the club, you've got a loaded 5sp SE too.

Sweet! I thought I had a SE because of the white face gauge. What through me off was the GXE/GLE on the title. I'll post up my ride soon.

titles can be easily messed up by stupid clerks when registering a car. My carfax shows a problem because the dumb lady that was entering the mileage of my car made a typo and it showed on the carfax right away.

what is keyed onto the title is of no relevance to what the car actually is.
if you want to know what you truly have, call the dealer with your VIN and they can tell you.

Yep, you've got a SE

in the future, might want to check the FAQ's as this is one of many commonly-asked ?'s

I thought any gxe could be dressed up w/ whatever options the primary buyer asks for. For instance, My gxe has fogs, intermittent wipers, spoiler, sunroof, power seats. If it's a standard though, it's 100% not a gle. And dont' SE have that sexy badge emblem on the front doors below the mirrors?

Only 99 SE-L's have that. I thought all SE's did because a lot of SE's around here are all 99 SE-Limiteds.

The SE-L is a whole different animal from what I hear. I guess they were just left over parts and chassis that they had to get rid of before the 2000 model year. Apparently the SE-L can be had in such a huge variety of options and whatnot that its almost difficult to keep track of.

And I think the GXE definitely had some options, but there was a limit as to how far it could go, or else you could virtually turn a GXE into a GLE and there would be no point in having the two seperate models.

One question I do have though, is there anything that ONLY the GLE can have that an SE can't have?

My SE has:
variable intermittent wipers
homelink
sunroof
leather
auto climate control
Bose
8 way power drivers seat
6 way power passengers seat
heated seats
heated side mirrors
Security system etc.

Is there anything my car is missing that a GLE has? As far as I know, you can equip an SE to GLE levels, but im not sure.

you are right to a point. there are se's witout the sunroof, power passenger seats, bose and some other items. the cold package was a seperate option. but all of this is covered in the FAQ'S no need to reinvent the wheel here.

How do you know if you have heated mirrors? Is there a switch for it or what?

Heated mirrors is part of the cold weather package: heated seats, heated mirrors, heavy duty battery, low windshield washer indicator. Easiest way to determine if you have heated mirrors is to see if you have heated seats.

No switch, when you turn on the defroster, I believe the heated mirrors automatically go on too.

You could get some packages for the GXE. Mine had the power front seats and moonroof from the factory.

I know someone who has / had a 95 GXE with leather, that is how I can make the statement with certainty.

Lets not forget about the ES model.

I've got a 99, its from quebec, no moonroof or leather, but has traction control and heated seats. At first I thought it was a French SE, but it is its own model, kind of a base model winterized SE.
