after about 6 hours yesterday , my springs/shocks/rotors/pads are on.

the look of the eibachs is a little lower than i thought it would be , BUT i do like it. I have the AGX's on 3 , and will put them on 4 in a few days.

it is a stiff ride, however i have a 97 se with 103,xxx miles on it and just replaced the factory stuff. i do like the ride , handles great ... plus the FSTB ... it feels solid.

PLUS the floaty feel i had at about 80 mph is gone.

the brake rotors look good , i brushed all the gold off and painted them metallic silver. looks good , do not like the break in period though. ANYBODY with these just skip the break in??????

my ride looks good , in my opinion , but i will have a pic or 2 up tomorrow.

you're not supposed to paint rotors...they get so hot that the paint will just melt and burn off. That gold "zinc cromatic" coating is there to keep the rotors from rusting....

I saw a lot of smoke when I install mine. The brake in peiods is important trust me. The next day I install them let my bother drive the car to tell me what he thinks. (Did like the way the car stop before with the OEM rotors) after 5-8 mins of hard braking…every time after that when you apply the brake you could feel the pads running over the holes! Come to find out that we damaged the pads. The rotors where fine but the pads had to be changed. The rotors eate them up.I do not what pads you used, But the pads I have is made out of soft material to prevent them from damage the rotors.

yes i understand that... but my rims show my entire rotor and the gold would have looked UGLY. so i painted them. if it does not hold.. i will high temp paint them.

so i choose to paint them and run the risk rather than have silver rims and silver/glod rotors

Why would you paint your rotors? Honestly, this is almost as useless as the uniwiper (Worst mod ever). Brake pads are designed to be high friction, forced by a hydraulic assist into the rotors. Any paint you put on there will cook in no time at all, giving you the smoke that you described. I don't think it'll harm anything, but it was just a waste of paint and time.

i understand what your saying. but, i painted the entire rotor. so where the brake pad contacts the rotor, the paint is gone. however where the pad does not touch the rotor is still nice and silver. again it my not stay that way , but it is better looking than the bronze.

the only reason i painted the entire rotor was i was to lazy to figure out where to brake pad would go and tape it off.

and you can get high temp paint to stay for a solid year if you do it right

This statement is ment to be a joke right?

I'm sure the paint on the rotor surface didn't do your pads to much good as they cooked the paint into the pad material. Not a smart move to paint the rotor surface at all. I would take your pads out and inspect them to see if you have burnt paint baked into the pad material. If so hit them with a belt sander to get rid of the bad material and only expose clean fresh brake pad material.

The most important part of good braking is nice clean mating surfaces and heat dissapation. You distroyed a perfectly clean breaking surface when you painted it.

You painted the rotors? Usually the calipers are painted, not rotors. Anyway, the coating ont eh rotor is for reduced noise & protectfor the rotors from what mother nature throws are you.

I would def break in the pads. If you do not do a proper break-in, you will glaze your pads and that means another brake job. The usually break-in time is suppose to be about 500 miles. This means brakes early and nice and easy on the ledal. You can also lightly pump the brakes to stop. Avoid any harsh braking.

they do the same thing right? the pad will wear down on the rotor? I NEVER SAID IT WAS THE BEST IDEA.

i just did this to solve my bronze problem. i have made mistakes before and will make more

however i have heard if you over spray your rotor while painting your calipers the pads would get them off.

yeah i have been trying to be as soft as possible. i am very nervous about situation on the highway though. you know how people like to cut you off then slam on the brakes.

but thanks for the help. i will continue to baby them
