i got a problem i got a shake *** steering wheel if i turn it an inch or 2 while driving my wheels dont even move. my left ball joint needs replacing. i got a STOCk suspension with 142k Miles on it. my wheels are aligned. and balanced. what can be the cause of this problems? the ball joint cant be responsible for the shaky steering wheel. thou.

That would cause the whole vibration 60 mph+. I had the same problem when I purchased my car. So I got the wheels balanced and car doesn't vibrate anymore at high speeds.

vibrations in the car can be caused by a lot of different things. out of balance tires is the most common but if there is play in your steering or suspension that can be the culprit too.

Loose or broken components in your steering and suspension are not something you should put off fixing/replacing. failure at the wrong time could be very bad news.

Replace the ball joint AND balance the tires and you should be riding smooth. Never hurts to balance the tires anyways.

theres about 30 diffrent things that can cause a car to shake..

But first thing you need to change is that ball joint, and you might as well do the other side to.

When i had the issue on my 99 I replaced just about everypart of the suspension and then the axles... Turned out the sh!ty motostorm pulley loosend up at the alen screws the hold the 2 pieces together and it caused a vibration through the hole car , but i only seemed to notice it at mid range rpms...

Back to the point, check and change the easy and obvious stuff first...

Also what kind of tires do you have and what shape are they in, 90% of the time its something that simple..

Don't forget to rent the press and fork. You will need it for the job in case you didn't know.

When I bought my 96 it had three different brand of tires on it and two different widths! (Fronts were 195, backs 215). It had a wicked shimmy over 60 as well. I bought four new tires and had them balanced and now its glass smooth and tracks like an Audi.
