R34 Fitment
R34 Fitment
Anyone else have trouble getting these things to bolt in properly? I'm already aware of the fitment issues with the grill and I will fix those in due time, but I can't seem to get these things to sit quite right. There's a slight gap between the fender and the headlight (where the old corner light would have gone) maybe 2 or 3 mm and I can't seem to get them to sit in the brackets right. Yes, I do have the brackets on the right side (they won't bolt up if you have them on the wrong side it would seem). They're just ever so slightly off, just enough so that the holes don't line up with the fixtures on the back of the headlight. I thought maybe there was previous crash damage I didn't know about, but it's off the exact same way on both sides of the car.
I really want these things to fit like they're supposed to

i didnt use the black brackets that came with them. when you get ready to put the nuts on the bolts push the headlights back(against the fender) and hold and put the nuts on, they should stay in place. I can get some pics if you would like

paranoia...gets me too.
Also, there's a little piece of metal, a ledge if you will, that sticks off the OEM metal that the OEM corners mount to. It seemed that this ledge might interfere with proper fitment, so I just bent mine down to eliminate any possible problems.
As mentioned, the R34 headlight tabs had to be redrilled to allow proper fitment of the grill.
Perfect fitment here otherwise.
You'll see them when they're mounted properly and work fully
I'm still missing one of the 9006 HID bulbs because kzoosho accidentally left one out when he was packing my stuff up I guess. I drove around a bit earlier with them, though, and WOW. FX's ftw. Just one by itself is already brighter and has a 10x better spread than both the stock headlights together. I can't wait to see them both in action, should blow away my old E46 setup.I've never ever read about redrilling the brackets. The bracket that was marked "left" actually went on the right, and visa versa. That was the only issue I had.

I still need to grind down those tabs yet, my grill is on the car but sitting improperly at the moment.
right here bro, i can agree with u on that fitting issue, i just like you thought that something was wrong with my car but i didnt use the brackets either just putt them in there. my right one fits better than the left headlight though
I'm glad your happy with half the light. It was totally my fault when packaging them up . I have your other bulb hid and halogen boxed and ready to ship. U should have it very very soon. Sorry again man.

Nope. It basically got destroyed in the accident I was in with the old car.
Finally got these bad boys the way I want them, or at least as close as they're going to get now that I've had a chance to study them a little bit. I've discovered that my complaints don't stem from poor fitment, they stem from poor quality control
I mean, I guess you get what you pay for, but still. My chief complaint with these was that the rubber strips that go around the outside of the headlight where the clearance (corner) light would have been before do not touch the fender in all areas. It's a very small gap (maybe a millimeter or two) but it's enough that it bugs me since I see it every day.
Following tigersharkdude's suggestion, I took the headlights back out today and re-installed them without the brackets (they were going to require some modification to be useful, and I don't feel they would have aided in stabilizing the headlight at all anyway). They do fit *slightly* better now, but not much. That's when I noticed the rubber strip on both sides was a different distance from the fender. Once I looked closer, I noticed that the rubber strip on one headlight was slightly thinner than on the other, accounting for the difference. With properly cut rubber strips, these headlights would appear to fit perfectly. I may go back and do what some Cefiro headlight owners have done and cut my own rubber strips out of generic material and add it behind the existing strips to seal the gap. It wouldn't be real noticeable, in my opinion.
In addition to messing with the fitment of the headlights, I trimmed them a wee bit as per recommendations and the grill fits perfectly now. I also installed a set of Silverstar amber bulbs in them today and the combination looks fantastic. I can't wait for good weather and a clean car for some pictures

I would, but I think it will be simpler to add on to what's already there. I'd have to buy a pretty big sheet of rubber (somehow) and cut it that way to get it shaped correctly. Unfortunately it's not as simple as cutting a long strip of rubber and bending it, it wouldn't sit properly.
