Raced a SC400 and check engine light came on??

The other day I lined up with a stock '92-'94 SC400 at a red light and we both raced up to 140km/h until we got to the next stop light. I ended up beating him by 1 car length but that's another story

Right after the race ended my Check Engine Soon light came up and it has been 2-3 days now and it is still there. This is not the first time this light has come up and I was wondering what it could be related to? The first time the light came up, it went away in a day or so. I have a JWT pop charger and I think it's causing it. The only other peformance mod I have is an exhaust. Can anyone help me out?

btw, I have a '99

If it still has a warantee take it to the dealer...otherwise, do an ecu check...see the stickies above.

try to reset the ECU(on the bottom). if that doesn't work get the code here(top) and decode it here. Once you get the code you can get help here.

Hope that helped you out!

when the check engine light comes on that usally means the mathmatical equation of the v-6 dohc triple bypass valve double intake cone aqua filter isn't working correctly. you must eat 2 jelly sandwich's with a nice talk glass of vitamen D milk to fix this problem. good day.

Re: hey nathan what kind of exhaust do u have ?

Joee, the exhaust is some generic brand like the ractive intakes but it's a little better quality and comes with a resinator. I payed around $190 including tax, but I later found it elsewhere for $175. I bought the exhaust from Speedtech at Midland and Finch and got it installed at a shop near Warden and Sheppard for $40.

In all seriousness, I don't think the fact that you raced a Lexus has anything to do with your light coming on. So since I have had first hand experience with the ECU thing... check out the stickies above and try to go to the maximadriver.com and go to the "how 2" section to learn to do it yourself.

Tips: the actual stop you turn the screw too is only resistance against the screw... if you keep turning it, it will keep going...this is not good.

Also have the car in the "on" position when doing this...that means you can roll your windows up and down...
Good luck

did you have a place to put that little sensor

sam ekinda thing happened to me. I think there is a little sensor that gets dirty every once in a while. all is better when check engine light goes out though. you know the sensor that went in the stock airbox and now has nowhere to go.

When I put my cone filter on all my sensors had a place to go...
I wouldn't disconnect anything and leave it unconnected... that will set it off for sure.

Re: did you have a place to put that little sensor

Justin, I haven't yet pulled up the codes yet but when I installed by JWT pop charger on my '99 max, there was nowhere to put the sensor. I'm going to give it a look this weekend. Thanks for the help.

Re: hey nathan

Joee, thanks for the offer. At the moment, I don't have the extra time to work on it but I might give it a try this weekend and if so I'll let you know.

My exhaust sounds nice and deep not like the civic's in our area with those fart cans. I think the price was worth it because I can either have the resonator on for a stock sound or have it off to turn some heads.

That little sensor needs to be connected and tied down somewhere safe. If it's not you get a the engine check light. You also might want to turn you car off then unplug that lonely part and blow on it. (remember blowing into nintendo games in an effort to fix them, same concept here) Then reconnect and follow directions @ maximadriver.com to reset ecu. That should fix your problem. I had the same one with JWT pop charger. (Love that full throttle sound)

Re: what do u mean

Yeah, the exhaust came with a resonator that screws onto the exhaust tip and quiets the sound to almost stock. It takes like 2 seconds to put it on or take it off.
