95-96 Maxima Trenz Grille Prototype- Pictures!!
As many of you have requested, I have been working with Trenz to design a polished aluminum billet grille to fit 95-96 Maximas. This is the same company that makes them for 97-99 Maximas. After three weeks of designing, I finally have a prototype. Now this is not a complete grill replacement, rather it fits perfectly into the groove, and covers the factory black grill. Doing it this way makes it easier to install and is more visually appealing. Below is a few pictures of the prototype. Please respond to this thread with you comments. If their is enough interest I will have Trenz begin production, and can have them available for you guys in as little as two weeks. Price will be the same as the 97-99 Maxima ones, $150 each. The valence will be available as soon as I can find a bumper to send to Trenz. Email me with any questions: Greg@CustomMaxima.com

The rear window spoiler is now available and I should have the eyelids this week. Sarona was slow in shipping them to me.

I don't like it for several reasons:
First, it makes the car look Pontiacesque (akin to a Grand Prix).
Two, it's inconsistent with the black trim used on 95-96 SE's. Nissan went to great length to eliminate metal trim on the 95-96 SE. Now you're re-introducing it. You're inviting the same problem as the Altezzas, which would be selling like American Flags on September 12, 2001, had the manufacturer eliminated the chrome backing and made them in black or paintable to match the exterior color of the car.
Three, its harsh, straight lines are inconsistent with the soft, sloping curves of the Max. What's with the triangle? Fine on a Mitsubishi/Pontiac, but not with a Nissan.
I applaud you for your efforts in trying to improve the max grill, but, I would vote against putting this design into production. Not being one to merely criticize and find fault, I make the following recommendations.
1. Change the finish to a black matte.
2. Try other "softer" designs. Personally, i think a 3/4" inch honey-comb design would give the car a more aggresive look.
You asked.

What happened to making this grille look like the 97-99 Trenz models? I think it's a much nicer design, and flows with the car better. Is there anyway of integrating more of the look of the 97-99, or is the picture that you posted going to be the final product...without the V?

Right on! I don't like the fact that the lines curve /\ upward, not \/ downward. This breaks up the visual motif of the front, and to me seems out of wack. The line down the middle is unneeded. I also agree on the black color - how about anodized aluminum? Perhaps a carbon fiber option? If those are not possible, I would buy a chrome piece.

Greg, once you have gone out of your way to provide another popular product for maxima owners, this time specifically for '95-'96 owners and i personally thank you. One problem i have with the Trenz grill prototype is that it doesn't really flow right. I preferred the look of the '97-'99. I might buy the grill from you, but i would get the '97-'99 and do a front end conversion.

Re: 95-96 Maxima Trenz Grille Prototype- Pictures!!
well thoese photoshop pics look like hell, but the grille looks unique and cool. I'm interested. I feel the need to do somethign with the stock grille, the homedepot stuffs looks awful and the i'd rather kill myself then put on an SMX grille
