How difficult would it be to add heated seats & mirrors to a '95 GLE?

I was driving home from band practice last night, and it had rained while we were there, and then froze, causing my side rear-view mirrors to be basically useless for most of the drive home. I had the car last winter as well, but I don't remember this being quite as bad, so it got me thinking about heated mirrors, which I know was an option on these cars when they were new. How would that be done, and how difficult/expensive is it to do?

I've read a tutorial on the installation of heated seats, and it looks like it wouldn't be too difficult...and correct me if I'm wrong, but since I have a GLE with the S&C package, I should already have the right seats, correct? So I'd just need to acquire the switches and wire it up, right?

The mirrors will run you about $140 for both...plus paint if they are a different color. The actual heated function you can just wire up to your defroster so when that's on, the heat for the mirrors will be on (at least that is what I was gona do before I put my car up for sale).

As for the heated seats...your car is a GLE so you SHOULD already have the wiring under your seat. You just need to wire up the switches and get heated seats (you don't have the heated seats or else you'd have the buttons already).

there r many threads here for heated seats upgrade and all r HIGHLY detailed as to wat u have to do, but u will have to purchase the seats, and then get the harness and switches for it to work , as for ur mirrors look at the answer above, i have never done that myself.

Yeah, it's not too hard, just remember to ground BOTH switches and seats to a bolt, not too each other.

Ask me how I know

I thought I had read somewhere that the powered seats in the GLE were exactly the same as the heated seats, and I figured that was why the S&C package was required for the cold weather package. My driver's seat has 3 plugs underneath, and it looks like my passenger seat has one. Are you guys sure that I'd need to replace the seat(s)?

How much of the mirror would have to be replaced? Would I need a whole new mirror, or can I use the stock housings?

Only one way to find out. Wire it up to a heated seat button.

You'd replace the whole assembly. No point in taking it all apart...its much easier to just swap assemblys.
