EXHAUST TIP

I'm considering installing a new exhaust tip on my 98 SE. I've seen some of the larger ones on Subaru WRX's and think they look pretty sharp. I'm considering the one below. Does anyone have this one? Does it look good? Too ricey? Any other suggestions? Can anyone tell me the diameter of the outlet pipe of a stock muffler.

Looks OK in the picture, 4" does sound kind of big. Your car, what ever turns you on.

Here's a 4".

Note how the outside diameter of the tip nearly perfectly matches the diameter of the bumper cover notch.

^^^ That's what I was thinking , thanks for the pic, it looks good on your Maxima although I may consider 3" - 3.5" instead.

not to thread jack but, isn't an exhaust tip on the stock muffler likely gonna sound kinda ricey?

I don't know much about this stuff so I'm just curious, as I'm looking into my own exhaust.

No the tip alone does very little or nothing to change the sound.

You don't seriously have an eBay 'electric supercharger' on your car, do you?

yeah that doesnt look stupid at all being that you can clearly see that the diameter of the pipe is cut in half not 5 inches past the end of the tip.

anything over 3.5 is over kill. I have an sp2 and have always thought it looks like a damn fart can.

Personally, I think a 2.5" tip would be just fine. No need for anything bigger, unless you have a bigger exhaust. Tip size = Exhaust size is my philosophy.

I have a chrome bolt/weld on 3.5" tip for sale if you're interested. Looks almost exactly like the one you have linked. Let me know.

I'm not sure if anyone else is aware, but there is another thread, the exact same in fact, ongoing right now too. There is info on this if you search.

3.5 ftw. Trust me. I have the rear stillen pieces and it fits in there so snugly and doesn't hang low.

I dont remember the exact size, around 3-3.5 but this is large enough for me. Its a cheapy bolt on Pilot Motorsports tip from the auto parts store.

OT: You have your transmission breather connected to your intake. Bad idea.
