coolant issues
coolant issues
hey guys, having coolant issues with my 95 max, coolant seems to be dissapearing I found out tonight that theres oil in my spark plug tubes(only 2 of them in the rear). I checked the oil and its not mixing together. would the 2 cylinders loading up on oil having anything to do with coolant consumption?
The cylinders aren't 'loading up on oil', your plug tube seals are leaking. Replace them and valve cover gaskets, as they're likely leaking as well by now.
Disappearing to where? Have you checked for leaks? Do a pressure test of the cooling system, see if it's leaking. It's likely a bad water pump seal or a cracked rad.

when you take off your radiator cap(after car has been running a while, then shut off) is there steam or alot of pressure when takeing it off. you could have circulation problems in your system that is just making it steam up and dissapear on you. i know i had a problem like this with my car. when coolant breaks down over time you can get corrosion buildup in your system which can impede on the flow of the antifreeze. all i did is go to a valvoline and have them do a complete flush of the system. Problem Solved. when was the last time you ever flushed your coolant if at all? No leaks?
How many miles are on your max? Check for leaks.. see if there's any residue around the radiator, hoses, pump. The OEM radiators on these cars are only good for around 150k before the plastic starts becoming brittle and cracking.
Have you done a compression test or checked for exhaust gases in the coolant?
well I dont believe it either but it has happen, so I take this time to replace alot of timing issues and guides and such. I'm still laughing at my local dealer who wanted 5500 to do the job. It is a pain in the *** but its do able
