Replaced starter, now engine dies

I replaced my starter last night. My car started fine, but I didn't test drive it. On my way to work this morning, the engine just quit. Luckily I could coast to a side street. The engine restarted fine, but quits about 3 seconds after I shift into drive. I noticed that the "Service engine soon" light is on now. It wasn't on before I replaced the starter.

Could I have missed connecting something together that would cause the engine to die?

Thanks

You may have bumped a sensor while changing the starter. Check both the Crank Position Sensor and the Cam Position Sensor for loose connections.

I had this problem with the Crank Position Sensor on another car. It would start, but not run above idle. After awhile it wouldn't start at all. A wire on the CPS had worn thru and was shorting out.

I'll do a search for their locations. I had to walk 20 minutes back to my house. I'll wait til the sun comes up and go back.

i changed the started and my alternator because alternator died and the new one i had died as well so i decided to buy another alternator and a new starter and it works good so im guessing try to see if it was your alternator that died and not your engine because those things happen

He already said that he left something disconnected, and that was the problem.

He wasn't even talking to you.

Point being, if you actually take the time to punctuate and spell properly (none of this 'wat' 'r' 'u' 'ur' crap), your message gets across a lot clearer. That, and people don't think you're an idiot.

The reason i like punctuation is because if you don't use it, your sentence makes my head hurt. Obviously I'm not trying to get my 15 posts in since I would have done that back in April of 2006 when I joined.

As for Pmohr,

And as for HomerMAC, you are correct about the human brain being able to do that. However, that trick can only work if the full word is there.
