Headlight goes off then on when I bang on hood. Help!

Also, I noticed my front left headlight was out. I banged on the hood and it went back on. It stayed on for a day or two then went out again. I banged on the hood again and it went back on. I fiddled around with the wire assembly to see if something was loose, but came up with nothing. My messing around didn't make the light go off or on. My father says I might have a bad ground somewhere, but I don't know where to start?

Probably just the bulb is bad. At least the symptoms sound like that. Try with new one,if it doesnt help check the wires near the plug.

i had a focus that did that. just check the bulbs and the wiring for anything that doesn't look right

probably a loose connection

Sounds like something you would see The Fonz do in Happy Days.
LOL, or are you guys all too young to remember that?

One answer, stop banging your hood. If that is to hard to do, then take off the headlight that "goes off" as you say, and check to see if the wires are loose.

my last car had the passenger side headlight go out if i hit a bump too hard lol. It was just a loose wire, took a few to find it just because of how everything was ran but an easy fix.

my friends 96 headlight went out. we bought the bulb and when we opened the hood, it aciddentally slipped out of my hands and closed, and the headlight turned on. Then his tailight went out and we went back there and tapped it, and it also turned back on.
