CV boots and Vinylex/303

Maybe this is a dumb question that has already been addressed...

It seems that there are a lot of axles being replaced due to CV boot failure. Would it make sense to give them a shot of Vinylex or 303 Protectant once a year or so to avoid the drying out/tearing of the boots? Both products go a long ways toward keeping rubber and vinyl stuff from cracking over time.

1. If people wouldn't lower their cars so much, it wouldn't be as big of an issue.
2. These cars are all 10+ years old now with 100k+ miles.. axle failure is common on any car this old. think of how many times those boots have been flexed.

Sure, some silicone or other protectant (NOT armor-all!!!!!) might help, but at this point they're 10+ years old and just worn out...
