Stock Max Top Speed

My ol 96 has far to many miles for me to top her out, but I was wondering just how fast will a bone stock auto go. I know a 5-speed could get a little more mph. I've had my auto up to 110 or so and only turning around 4000rpm. Anyone ever hit the infamous 140 on the speedo

ive hit 140 a couple times, not good, hence the reason my rod bearing are shot now. but i had to take the speed governor off my 98 maxima. all my other friends with 97, 96, 95 didnt have that issue.

With all my bolt ons i hit about 150mph. I had the needle burried past 220kmh(140).

My SAFC2 showed me at 6197rpm in 5th gear, which puts me right near 150mph.

I think i was on a bit of a decline, took me awhile to get there. 200K miles on the car when i did that, lol havent replicated that since though.

Never heard that one before.

Got to 125 in my 97 5spd and stop there. Didn't want to go any faster on poor tires.

Mine goes to 119 and stops. 99 SE. I can probably squeeze an even 120 out of it but this was done in FL at 3am on an empty 2 mile long bridge and it took FOREVER to get to 119 (after I hit 115 it just CRAWLED).

EDIT: Come to think of it...I was only in 3rd (OD off). I always have it off when doing something like that as the car moves better from 0-whatever.

That's when 3rd gear maxes out and then it'll shift to 4th (assuming you put OD back on).

That's what I figured after taking a closer look at the pic. Oh well...maybe some other time. I try not to do that too my car. But that was in FL on those lovely bridges they have that have no ramps, no u-turns, no nothing. Just 3 or 4 lanes of pure openness (at 3am anyway).

Ahh...42kmi. I miss August 2007. lol.

I know exactly what you are talking about; the bridges in Florida. I have family down there and one night, we took a wrong turn and got on one of the bridges towards Tampa from Largo and they take a bit to go down and back.
