Y pipe install slight glitch

I am installing my new Cattman Y pipe and got the stock pipe out. I am running into a slight problem. I went to put the gasket on the cat and it doesn't fit. Just wondering if I have the right gasket. It is a little smaller than the old one. It is aNissan part #20692-1E810. It would fit over the Cattman pipe end but wont go on the cat studs. I guess I could ream out the holes a little but don't want to ruin the gasket. Anyone have a suggestion or know if this is the right gasket for a 98 SE.

All help appreciated.
Thanks,
Madmax8

Well, according to CourtesyParts.com 20692-A32B001 is the proper part number.

I believe that gasket is different only between Cali and Fed spec cars, so if you have the right gasket it should fit.
My suspicion is that there is rust build up around the studs on the cat, try buffing the studs up and see if it helps.

Nice car btw^

Well, I don't know if it's the right gasket. I bought the Y pipe from another org member and he included the gaskets but not sure if he had a 4th or 5th gen or if that even matters. I wire brushed the cat threads and surface but it's not very close. I think it's the wrong gasket. Probably just have to exchange it with Nissan on Monday unless I can get one from auto parts store tomorrow.

I guess I didn't say mine is fed spec. As far as I know through 98 it didn't make a difference.

That's not a Nissan parts number, that's a part code and Courtesy's identification system.

Why not just order them from Courtesy or Dave B? Cheapest you'll find them, and decent shipping time.

$5 CAN at the dealer, just get the bloody thing, I don't see what this discussion is about.

As far as the difference between 4th and 5th gens, I'm pretty sure the only difference is 02 sensor locations. Correct me if I'm wrong
