What is the best way to eliminate road noise?

I'm getting an off-brand equivalent of dynamat X-treme in a few weeks, which helps increase stereo efficiency, eliminate rattles, decrease wind and road noise, and helps several other areas. But I've already done this to my silverado, and there is still a considerable amount of road noise.

I was thinking of putting a thin layer of "pink panther" insulation/sound absorber in between the metal floor and the carpeting. But if I remember, that stuff is fiber-glass based, and I don't want to be breathing that stuff in all the time when I'm driving- it makes for some nasty respitory problems... that's why people were masks when they install it into homes.

So what else is out there that is easily conformed to the shapes of a car floor, that is good at absorbing sound, yet won't expose occupants to any harmful dust/debris?

Ideas, anyone?

Also, on a side note: I haven't looked yet, but what all is involved in taking the seats and carpeting up from our maximas? I know with my Silverado I had to get two very odd-sized sockets (size 16&18 reverse-torx deep socket), but after that, it was a 10 minute job to pull 8 bolts out, diconnect the seat-belt sensor from the drivers-side seat, and pull the seats out. Is it that simple on the maxima?

They sell other sound dencening stuff. Instead of fiberglass it is foam. I used it in my room to keep the sound in better for like my stereo and stuff so it did not drive everyone else nuts in the house. You can get it at home depot.

What about Dunlop sports SP series tires? They put those things on the Lexus LS430, Toyota Avalon, and several other highend Mercedes, Infiniti, and Lexus luxery cars. They must be designed to be relatively quiet and nice riding, right?

Jr'sMaxima- what is carpetmat and where can I get it?

YES!
-Quiet tires such as the Yokos AVS would help a lot...
-dynamat
-crank up that stereo
-check all moulding on the inside of the door jams and places like that, which insulate between openings, if anything is ripped, you might want to replace that.
