temp gauge needle

temp gauge needle

Before i cough up the cash for a new coolant temp sensor
my temp gauge works, but it bounces a lot, any advice on this,
is it the temp sensor that's bad, i check the connector it looks good
hopefully its not the temp gauge

"bounces" as in a loose needle or keeps moving up/down like the temp kept changing?

That used to happen to me when I stepped on the gas. My starter ended up going bad and after I replaced it, the needle doesn't bounce at all anymore. Not sure if that helps, thats just my experience.

Odd, must've moved the wiring harness around enough to fix whatever loose connection was there.

FWIW, mine did that with the bad motor mounts (temp gauge was a damn wheelhop indicator), but no longer. Anyway, it was just a loose connection inside the spade terminal.

Look inside and make sure it's not corroded, and that the connector isn't wiggling around inside the housing.
