I find it hilarious that yet again, there's a fuel thread, and yet again, it ends up getting a ton of input.

I've had my maxima for about a year and a half now, it used to be my mom's and god did she drive bad,.....she used 89 gas, and when gas was expensive used 87, when i received the car i used 87 a few times and then said **** it it sucks i'll use 89, then i finally found a gas station that sells 91 octane, which my Nissan manual recommends, after my tank was emptyed of 89 after a few weeks on filling up 91 only, i have to say i get slightly better gas millage and deffinatly better performance. i have a '99 maxima gxe, and i only upgraded the sound system, it's an auto so i am debating if i should waste money on other upgrades b/c it's auto, and auto sucks

the car manual for my 96 se says it recommends 91 octane.
im sure if you're pocketbook is getting too small then substituting 87 octane wouldnt be harmful. but i run canyons a lot and push my engine, so i def use 91 octane all the time
