Getting Back into a 4th GEN!! Help me out.

Hey guys! I used to be in the 4th gen community but i had an auto...

This time around i am getting a 5sp this time around and i was wondering how their tranny holds up... (My auto blew up at 110,000) The car I am looking at has 127000 miles with a new clutch. What do you think?

Diff bearings, diff bearings, diff bearings. Primary thing that fails in the 5spd, since Nissan decided the could all just use the exact same shims and didn't bother to actually measure. Either yours will be fine, or they won't.

My main bearing went ont in my 96 5 spd tranny at about 160K, but also I learned how to drive a 5 spd on it so Im sure thats a factor....I threw in a 00 tranny with about 70K on it and Im stilll going strong at 193K...you do the math.

'96 SE 5SP. 1st clutch made it to 145K. Input shaft bearing started making noise at about 140K. Had whole thing rebuilt when the clutch went. I took it out myself (not that hard, really) and had some one else rebuild it for $700. Car has 155K on it now---and I figure it should be good til my son for next 4-5 years---he can buy the next car! I say go for it---but start putting some money away now---its going to happen.
