My check engine light came on so I did the usual thing and used the screwdriver ECU diagnosis method, and I got: 0505. According to the diagnosis Javascript, this is: "No Failure Recorded/Detected"
Can anyone tell me what's up with this?

Are you sure you didnt accidentally clear the codes when you checked them? I've done this a couple times.

Thanks JNCoRacer, it could be .... oh b____, I am going on holiday tomorrow, now I will have to waste time driving around to see if the CEL comes back on again.

 

0505/P0000 has been known to occur before when there's some voltage fluctuations, or a charging system issue. From what I remember, anyway.

Apparently, occasionally the manual CEL check won't show any codes, but an OBD-II code reader will. It's been documented a few times on the org.

 

I reset the ECU and just took it for a drive of over 20 km at speeds up to 70mph, and the CEL remains OFF! Previously when I have had a problem the CEL returned within a few km, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the CEL remains off.
