Ptatohed's "Padded leather 'mom-made' elbow/armrest pads"

In my MOTM thread from last month (March 2009), in my modifications list, under "Looks and creature comforts (inside)", I have listed:

- Real leather covered foam padded door elbow/armrest pads ("Mom made")

Well, I have received a few PMs about what these are exactly. So I decided to post some pictures.

Quick history/explanation: I have always thought that, during long drives especially, the elbow rests on our cars are too hard/uncomfortable. Both the center console armrest and the door panel armrest. Well, some of you might remember from my "Interior Decorating" thread, I mentioned placing a foam layer between my OEM armrest and my Redline Goods leather armrest cover. Well, that took car of my right elbow, right? But what about the left elbow? So, I asked my mom to make these for me. They are made from sheets of craft foam called "Foamies" sold at most every craft store (Like Michael's, if you have one near you) or even Wal-Mart (fabric section) and covered in leather, glued down to the Foamie. Foamies come in various thicknesses but I believe I used the 5mm thickness. For now I have just used double-stick tape to keep the pads on the door panels. Here are some pictures:

From a comfort standpoint I can see that working really well.
From a looks standpoint... I don't like it at all.

But I give props for your ingenuity.

As always, Ptatohed is thinking outside the box and continuously coming up with new ideas. Good job.

Yeah, I know. I wouldn't prefer they be there - but I figured as long as they are black and leather (and easily removable without permanent damage), I'm cool with using them.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

It does look a little tacky but I'm sure its more comfortable.

I like how it is integrated on the '00 Infiniti I30:
