Maxima...working? whaaa?
Maxima...working? whaaa?
I'm having one of those days where my Maxima is just running smoooooth!
I had a moisture problem for the past year......
--> The back rear passenger floor would be wet/damp after a heavy rainstorm. After cleaning out the sunroof drains and taking apart the interior ...and after driving around several months..I found the problem. I took up the carpet and taped toilet paper around the floor board. After a rain, the side near the door/seat belt area was wet. There are holes in the frame part of the car(on the other side, they are covered with stickers..I guess they fell off). I got some toggle bolts and rubber gaskets...no more leaks!
Also, about the time this moisture problem started, I had a "shifting" sensation accompanied by a "creaking" noise coming from the front driver side. Ive looked and looked several times and never found it. ....just thought Id wait until it got worse to figure out what it was. Anyway, I got two new tires today..and told the mechanic about it. He looked at it and drove it around a bit. He put the car on the lift and tightened up the lower strut bar(so he said..probably just tightened up all the bolts underneath a bit). Final result....NO MORE PROBLEMS! And..the steering feels really tight...almost feels like a different car.
I think I might try and fix that leaking CPOS this weekend which shouldnt be too hard and just drive around for a few hours enjoying a problem-free car!
And, I fixed my spoiler after it was broken off at the base. I had to buy all new plastic pieces. I also used Billy May's Mighty Putty to repair the broken pieces. I ran some small wire through the holes of the trunk and through the spoiler in case it broke off during a drive. I ran it along the light wire...and had to run it along one of the bolts on the other side...this lead to a leak..which i fixed using the rubber gunk from my taillights.
ahhhhhhh

There are 4. Two in the front visible by looking down at the sunroof and two in the back which are not. I got some plastic weed-wacker rope and fed in through the two in the front.---you don't see it come out because the hole at the end it too small(haha).(There are long drains, I assume, that run from the back tires to the front tires under the doors. This is where that water is deposited it from the front (you can wear the rope the bottom out near it). As for the back, the drains exit out right above the rear tires(one drain connects to the antenna drain). I just ran it through those until i heard it near the top of the sunroof. The one that connects to the antenna.....I had to take off the connector from the antenna and run it through....there was a bunch of dirt/mud/bugs that had crawled up in there(first discovered when my antenna would just go up and down randomly...the water had clogged up, shorted out the board, and...had to get a new one!)
Also, as ive been told SEVERAL times by MANY people is...that a sunroof leaks(period). It leaks around the edges..especially during a carwash..but there are leads the lead them into the 4 drains mentioned above.....(I thought this was the culprit in my moisture problem for a long time). Mine leaks at the very back on the sunroof where the black molding connects together.
