weird sound.. 5-spd tranny?

Alright guys, aside from my oil leak problem that i discovered today... this noise i've been having actually didn't seem as a problem until my cousin told me he never heard it when he used to have the car. I always thought this sound was standard or something... well anyways lemme describe it as best as possible. This happens when i'm accelerating and i can hear it better w/ the windows up. When i accelerate the car sort of whines... well not the car but it sounds like something is... its like a "whaaaa-whaaa-wha" sound getting faster as i accelerate till it isn't noticable till i shift gears. Also, i can feel it as i grip the shifter... what could be this problem?

You have the best sig pics.

nadir_s: On the whine, if it goes whah whah whah, kinda like an out of balance tire sounds, I would lean towrds the bearings as well. If it's a steady whine that increases in pitch as you accelerate in first and second, it's a normal sound. I'm sure it's there in other gears as well, it just a lot harder to hear.
