Keyless Entry Problem

Ok so I got two new remotes and I have done this before by entering the key in and out like 5 or 6 times then turning it to the accy, position. So i went to do it with my new remotes and I got the hazards to flash and i turned it to the on position instead of accy. Now everytime I try it, it will not do anything at all! I think I broke it! I dont know what to do now! Anyone got any ideas?

Turning it to IGN instead of ACC shouldn't disable the programming procedure.

Are you sure you're following the correct procedure now? It's not 'like', it's gotta be done a certain way.

LIKE I said i have done this a many of times. The last time i tried it, it stopped working. You get in lock the doors with the main switch and you have to insert the key in and out of the ignition untill the hazards flash, and you have to do it within 15 seconds. so I did that and I turned the key to on, (It said have it to the accy position. so I tried it again by taking the key out unlocking the door, opening and closing the door and locking it again and repeat. No go. Im just hoping I dont have to replace the BCM.

The chances of damaging the BCM by following the procedure incorrectly is so slim to the point of impossibility.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery or the BCM for a while, see if that changes anything?

I know that it is impossible to damage it that way, that was my worst case scenario. I literally lifted my hood to do that and it started pouring down rain. I will do that on my break tomorrow and pull it in the shop.

I got a question for you pmohr. I am going to be doing the front cover on the max. What do you think is a wise idea to replace while I have the cover off? Tensioner? water pump?

Water pump, tensioner, and guide (if your tensioner/guide are the old style).

Obviously you'll want to do the front seal as well, and if you're due for belts, those as well. Basic stuff like that.

i assume when you mean the front cover its the timing chain cover?? i would say to change out the water pump, new chain tensioner and chain guide. I believe that's what most people do. I personally haven't done it but read up on so much of it, that's what most people change out and even though the water pump isn't bad, they do it anyways to avoid having to open up the cover again. And make sure you use enough sealant and following the right tightening procedures as the fsm.

Yea, its something I gotta get done, my girls dad is *****ing about oil leaking on his drive way
Plus my work is have Porsche track day again this year. This time we do not get to run the porsches around the track since it cost them so much money, so I am going to try to have alot of performance **** done to my car and have it "safe"/ track ready. She is ordering me a clutch a flywheel package from stillen http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...N&model=MAXIMA
Im going with the ACT (the cheaper one)

Im thinking about saving up for a coilover kit too. I dunno i gotta do some research on the suspension set up I want.

are you sure that its the timing chain cover that its leaking?? Make sure before you decide that you need it changed. the oil sender unit (oil pressure switch) is prone to leak. The timing chain cover doesn't look all that fun to change.

Yes, I am sure. Ive replaced that when I got the car. I put over $1k worth of parts and stuff on my car and that was one. It is not fun. Alldatapro says 13 hours, or 15 hours or something like that. Not its not going to be fun.

Ok back on the subject. So after about an hour of trying to get one remote to register i finally got one remote to work. So I go and do the other one and nothing happens. now the other one dont work at all again. I cant get it to register again. I was going end up punching something so I quit for the night. Anyone got any suggestions? An easier way to do this? Something?

So you can't get the system into programming mode, or it won't recognize the remotes, what?

And are we to assume that you've changed the batteries in both remotes?

Well when I insert the key 6 times the hazards will flash then I turn the key to "accy" or "on" then I hit the unlock button on the remote the hazards will flash (but the doors will not unlock). So I turn the key off and take it out unlock the door manually and it still dont work.

When I got it to register earlier i was frustrated and i started turning the key and hit the remote buttons and it started working.. So I waited about 6 or 7 hours. (remote worked perfectly) I tried to do the other one and when i tried the good one got erased and now none work. I think I am doing something wrong but I dont know what. I am following the instructions from nico.

Yes the batteries have been replaced...
