I am having an issue that I am sure somone here knows the answer too.

My 99 max (auto) sometimes drops idle (about 500rpm) suddenly at redlights. When it drops idle you can actually feel a bang and the odd thing is that it only does this during warm weather. It started last summer but was a non issue during the winter and now that its warming up outside.. the idle trouble continues.

Any suggestions?

 

99= bad coils likely.

Replace the coils, then come back if it's still happening.

 

+1 for coils. Just had this problem. Sometimes it was fine, sometimes it wasn't.

Also, check your ground on the intake manifold. Mine was loose, contributing to this experience. It is located right on the front of the upper intake manifold. Two grounds, two bolts. 10mm.

 

yea same problem here................Coils. did the job.

 

Alright.. looks like the verdict is coil packs! Any problems with the autozone coil packs or do I need OEM?
