clock and climate control display.
i changed my to red...amber might be difficult. you could take it to an electronics repair shop where they could replace the color filter on the screen but that would be damn expensive and since yours isn't a show car - pointless.
try layers of celophane:
screen
red
orange

click on the search button. Click advance search, type in LED in the keyword. Then click search title only. I also click just in the 4th generation forums. Hope this helps you out. I replaced every bulb in my dash with regular bulbs that just slip into the sockets. No solder, No resistors, Just plug and play! Easy to do, and fun to learn more about your car.http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...?highlight=LED

i have already changed all my dash lights to amber. im just asking about the display, not the buttons.
the celophane paper is how I did mine. Went with a white or bluish white color. You will have to experiment with different colors to get your look. You can find the paper in a dollar store.
When the dash panel dimmer dial is turned all the way up past the "click" the climate control illuminates at daytime brightness. Unfortunately the clock does not, but the climate control display does.
that would kill all the lights on the auto ac control...at least that's what i think it would do.i want to have the screen bright only and all the time though.
With that switch turned all the way up past the click my climate control stays bright all the time weather I have the headlights on or not. I'm pretty sure all 4th gens are this way.
yes BUT the cluster backlight and all the switches are fully illuminated then too and i don't like when they're too bright.
Oh, I understand now. In that case, you will probably have to do something similar to the mod to get the clock to full brightness. I would assume clipping the illumination wire, however I would check a wiring diagram or the FSM anyway just to make sure of what causes it to dim. My guess would be that as soon as current goes through the illumination wire it dims though.
