evap canister purge control valve relocation

I just busted the vacuum nipple off of my evap canister purge control valve due to clearance issues with the FSTB (and maybe a bit of a lead foot). Has anyone tried to relocate this part? Its the mushroom shaped valve that seems to be vacuum actuated, allowing fuel vapor to pass back through the EVAP solinoid to the throttlebody.

I tried using the ORG's search and google, but really didn't find any threads on moving it. I thought of just lengthing the lines to it an inch or so and using a wire tire to secure it.

Are you sure your FSTB isn't upside down? Have you tried bending it up in that location?

Ive got mine hanging, however I am an 00VI. My evap switch itself is just hanging, not bolted onto anything.

No its not upside down, and I bent the metal tube a bit when I installed the strut bar, the one that the vacuum hoses connect to, trying to get a little more clearance. I could try to bend the strut bar, if that's what you are saying, but I don't really think that makes sense. A couple of extra inches of hose will probably solve the problem and prevent it from happening again.

MOHFpro90,

I thought about just letting it hang also, but my neighbours have young children (just kidding). Those two hoses at the bottom for the fuel vapor could probably support it without a problem.

The real bummer is the broken nipple. I tried to JB Weld it together, but that was never going to work, not enough surface area with the broken piece just butted up against the valve body. Instead I slightly enlarged the hole inside in it and the body of the valve, and inserted a piece of ink tube from a bic pen. I covered it in JB Weld and it'll take the night to set. I will see if my repair works in the morning. If not, I need a valve.

Oh, and I cleaned my IACV. I recommend it.

Is it safe to assume that the orientation of this valve does not matter? I found a great spot for it just to the drivers side of the IACV.

As you can see it is upside down. It is a vacuum actuated valve with a return spring in it so I can't see why it would matter. Any thoughts?
