Fog Light Output Issues

I did a search to see if anyone else has had my problem, and i found this:
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...oks-funny.html

Its an acient thread, and i have the same problem, but the question was never answered.

So, with my fog lights, same bulbs, i have adjusted with the adjustment screw multiple times, and i am still unable to get the same "cutoff"(if you will) on both sides.

Pass. side is perfect, you can see that the little cutoff shield is doing its job in keeping the light where it needs to be. If both sides were like the Pass. side, i could almost use them as headlights.
But on the drivers side, however, it's almost as if the cutoff shield is not even there, there is hardly any directed light from this side.

Should i try and push the cutoff shield down on the driver's side to see if that helps? Or should i not risk it?

Does anyone have any ideas on what i should do? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I'd say try to get a few output pictures with foglights only (headlights off or headlight bulbs removed) against a white wall so we can take a look.

also maybe some pictures of the fog lights when they're off?

That might help us troubleshoot. Are the glare shields intact on both? maybe one broke off or something.

I will try and take some pictures tonight.

I have the fog rewire(the output problem was around even before the rewire) so i can pretty much give you any output pic you want

And yes, both glare shields are intact.

More Pictures

This is Passenger side Fog Light Only:

This is Driver side Fog Light Only:

Now, the passenger side and drivers side bulbs are different now, as i blew the passenger side last night. So i put the New bulb in the Passenger side, and an Old bulb in the Drivers side. Only difference is color, same brand, same wattage etc.

Do these help?

It is possible that the chrome coating inside of the drivers side fog light is deteriorating. My best guess is that your chrome is peeled off.

Its nearly impossible to take the glass lens off of the fog lenses w/o breaking or cracking it. You're going to have to heat it up in an oven. IIRC mine baked at around 300 for 10 minutes and it still wouldn't come off w/o breaking the glass.

After you get it off you can always spray the chrome again with a metal chrome paint like "chrome killer" from alsa corp.

Ah, yeah that would make sense. I would have never thought of that!

Would you say its worth it for me to attempt to take it apart and spray some new chrome on it? Or should i just buy another fog?

You can find them for $40 a pop on ebay.

Chrome paint will never work as well as the original chrome. It might look close to it, but it's unlikely that you'll have anywhere near as good output with chrome paint as with a clean, new chrome bowl.
